The Four Corner's Open House will happen on Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 6 PM to 7 PM.
What's New
Workers, workers everywhere. Greenfield green, copper, and ocean blue are just a few of the colors going up on the walls in newly re-opened east section. Our floors will be white with accent tiles. Our two kindergarten teachers will be moving to this wing and will be joined by Mrs. Lavoine who will be our third kindergarten teacher.
Our staff will also have a new fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Anne Naughton and Ms. Brittney Sullivan will be our new first grade. Letters will be sent out by the end of this week from your child's teacher. This will not happen for in-coming Kindergarten students.
Kindergarten students will not attend school September 2-7, the first three days of scheduled classes for children in grades 1-4. Instead, kindergarten children will receive a letter which has an appointment time to come to kindergarten screening. During your scheduled appointment, your child will be asked to go into a kindergarten classroom with one of the staff members to do some simple tasks such as identify colors, follow two-step directions etc. while you remain in the hall and fill out the Parent Questionnaire. At 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 7th, the class lists will be posted at on the front door. Your child's teacher will be there to meet and greet you. We are looking forward to having your child attend our kindergarten program.
Welcome Back Picnic
Four Corners is having a welcome back picnic on Monday, August 30th from 5 pm to 7 pm. This event is sponsored by the PTO. Bring blanket/chairs and your own food. The PTO will provide drinks and dessert. You can meet the teachers, learn about the PTO, meet other 4C families and play on the new playground. The picnic will be held in the back area of the school near the play structure. Hope to see you there.
Summer Time at Four Corners
“Summer time and the livin’ is easy…” are the words to an old song. The song at Four Corners would be “summer time and the livin’ is busy. Our wonderful custodians have moved every piece of furniture out of room and each floor has been stripped and given several coats of sealer. You will need sunglasses they are so shiny! The section of the school that was closed has been repainted and new tile floors will be added shortly. In addition to this, windows are also being replaced. Our two kindergarten teachers will be moving to this area as soon as it is ready.
Our gardens are growing, including the weeds. Three beds have been weeded and there are two more to go if anyone is interested. Judy and Wisty, our garden elves, came by and planted strawberry plants. Our pumpkin seeds have produced pumpkins. It is quite the sight!
We have hired one new teacher for fourth grade. Ann Naughton will be a wonderful addition to our staff and is eager to begin setting up her room. She will be meeting with fourth grade teachers from the Middle School this week. Welcome to Ms. Naughton.
This week we will be interviewing more candidates for our first grade opening. It is an exciting time and I am looking forward to hearing the voices of children in the halls soon.
I am looking forward to seeing everyone in September
