The Greenfield Public Schools is having its annual Film and Art Festival on Thursday May 11th.  We are looking for school appropriate film submissions from any GPS student ranging anywhere from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. Films may be emailed to Rachel Cronen-Townsend at  If real people are in your film, please contact Ms. C-T at the below email to get additional information. All films must be submitted by Monday, April 22nd.  If you have any questions, please contact Ms. C-T at

The Greenfield High School Student Council with advisor, Angela Mass, hosted the Student Council Regional Meeting today.  There was the need to change the venue and GHS stepped up to host. Thank you so much to Ms. Mass and Student Council!

The School Committee voted to approve the FY24 budget reflecting a 10.35% increase over last year’s request to the City.

The Mayor’s Budget includes a 3% increase for the Greenfield Schools, which represents approximately $1.5 million in reductions to the proposed budget. More information will be available about proposed reductions in the near future.

Student registration for the 20023-2024 school year has begun for all grades, including preschool through grade 12. We are asking for the families of any incoming kindergarten students to please register for school as soon as possible so we can determine class sizes.

Evening hours will be available by appointment by contacting Andrea DiTullio at 772-1323.

A reminder to families – a birth certificate or other original proof of age, immunizations, and proof of residence in Greenfield are required for registration.

A subcommittee meeting was held this week to discuss the next steps in this process.  Option 1 is still being discussed but there are some transportation challenges to consider.  A new option (2B) was introduced, for which the boundaries for all elementary schools would be redrawn to better represent the community in each school and grade 5 would be moved into the elementary schools.  This option will be investigated further to see if it is a possibility. A review of the Mass School Building Authority process to consider construction or renovations was provided.

After additional information is gathered, any options that remain possible will be shared with staff and families.  This process is ongoing and an update will be provided at the School Committee meeting in April.

The meeting was recorded and is available on the GCTV site for anyone interested. A summary of the options is available on the website.

Take care,
