This week’s Parent Update will include:

  • Upcoming Events
  • Tiered Focused Monitoring Information
  • Summer Camp Opportunity

Tomorrow, May 26th is an early release day for our students in grades K – 12.  AEL students do not attend.  Our staff will have professional development in the afternoon.

Grade 4 Step Up Day will be June 8th.  Grade 4 students from all three elementary schools will visit GMS to meet teachers and administration, take a tour of the school and hear about all of the exciting opportunities at GMS.  Grade 4 families please watch for information from your building principals.

Please save the date for our 2023 Summer Eats Kick-Off! It will be held on Thursday, June 22 from 4 – 6 pm at the Green River Swimming & Recreation Area. The rain location will be GMS. The Food Service Department will be serving a FREE meal from their new Food Truck, and there will be lawn games, crafts, activities, and resources from community organizations. We hope to see you there!”

The last day of school as of today is June 22.  That will be an early dismissal for students and staff, including our students at AEL.  Morning students will attend and our full-day students will have an early release.

The district is engaged with the Department of Education in a monitoring process for our special education and English Language learner programs.  Information about this process, including a family orientation meeting, will be posted on the district website.  Please check the website throughout the month of May specifically for additional information.

Would a one-week summer camp scholarship help your family this summer? Thanks to grants from the Opioid Task Force and the Massachusetts Rural Vaccine Equity Initiative, the Foundation for Community Justice is offering summer camp scholarships (while funding lasts) to Franklin County families who are working on healing and/or recovery. Referrals are made by local agencies or schools. Visit the foundation website to learn more.

Take care and enjoy the weekend
