UPCOMING EVENTS

This is a reminder that we have an early release on November 22 (no PK) and no school on November 23 or 24 for the Thanksgiving break. All of our staff and students will be participating in a Turkey Trot on Wednesday, Nov. 22!  Students run/walk around our schools, have refreshments, and engage in other games.  We are thrilled to have GPS engage in fun and community-building events.

Because of the short week coming up, I will not be sending out a Parent Update next week.

KIDS NIGHT OUT

The GHS Class of 2024 is offering a Kids Night Out fundraiser.  Please see the information here for an opportunity for parents/guardians of elementary-aged students to spend an evening while your children have a great time at GHS.  This information is also available on the GHS webpage.

ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN DURING VACATIONS

The Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) has provided some links that may be helpful in supporting your children during breaks from school and with the holidays.

CLASSROOM WALKTHROUGHS

District and school administrators, along with our Statewide System of Support (SSoS) and Teaching Lab partners, have been visiting classrooms across the district as part of the work identified in our Strategic Plan.  Our staff has been engaged in professional development and collaboration regarding our first best practice and their work is showing in the levels of student discourse in classrooms from preschool to high school.   GPS is fortunate to have instructional staff so focused and dedicated to providing high-quality instruction to all of our students. Ask your students what Write/Think – Pair – Share looks like in their classes!

I hope everyone has a happy Thanksgiving

Christine
