Dear Greenfield Public Schools Students, Staff, Families, and Community:
As we begin a new school year, I am filled with excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to serve as your new Superintendent. It is an honor to join a school district with such a strong sense of community, deep connections, and a genuine commitment to its students.
The way people care about one another in Greenfield has already stood out to me. Our schools are at the heart of this community, and I have already seen that our greatest strength is the people who make up Greenfield Public Schools—our students, educators, staff, families, and community partners.
Our district motto captures an important commitment that I hope will guide our work together:
“The Greenfield Public School District is a place where every child is supported on their path to success.”
This district motto is our commitment to every student that they should feel known, valued, supported, challenged, and safe. Safety and security will be a top priority for all of us as we begin this school year. Students can only fully learn and grow when they feel safe, welcomed, and that they belong. We will continue to strengthen the systems, relationships, communication, and supports that create secure learning and teaching environments for every student and staff member.
I believe one of my most important responsibilities as a Superintendent is to listen. In the coming months, I look forward to having meaningful conversations with as many students, staff members, families, and community members as possible. I want to hear what you value about Greenfield Public Schools, what you believe we do well, where we have opportunities to grow, and what you hope to see for the future of our schools.
Your voices matter. Our students’ voices matter. Together, we can build on the many strengths already present in our district while creating greater stability, meaningful growth, and a culture of inclusivity and belonging. The best decisions for our students will come from working with one another, not working in isolation.
I believe strongly in the possibilities ahead of us. We have an opportunity to create a bright future for Greenfield Public Schools — one where every student has access to an excellent education, every student is supported on their individual path to success, educators feel valued and supported, and families and community members feel welcomed as true partners in our work.
As we begin this journey together, I ask each of us to keep our focus where it belongs: on our students and their futures. Their curiosity, creativity, dreams, and potential should inspire everything we do.
I am excited to listen, learn, collaborate, and work alongside you. There is so much we can accomplish together, and I am grateful to be part of the Greenfield Public Schools community. I look forward to seeing staff at our Convocation on August 31st at Greenfield High School and then welcoming our students on the first day of school on September 2nd.
Here’s to a safe, successful, inclusive, and joyful school year—and to the bright future we will build together.
Sincerely,
Carol M. Kruser
